Ingredients

  • 1 pound large shrimp peeled and deveined
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil or avocado oil
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper optional
  • 1/2 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lime juice
  • 8 small corn or flour tortillas

Cabbage Slaw

  • 3 cups shredded green or purple cabbage
  • 1/2 cup shredded carrots
  • 1/4 cup fresh cilantro chopped
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon honey or maple syrup
  • 1/4 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon black pepper

Avocado Crema

  • 1 ripe avocado
  • 1/4 cup plain Greek yogurt or dairy-free yogurt
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
  • 1 small garlic clove
  • 2 tablespoons fresh cilantro
  • 2 –4 tablespoons water as needed
  • 1/4 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  • Combine smoked paprika, chili powder, garlic powder, onion powder, cumin, oregano, cayenne, salt, and pepper.
  • Pat shrimp dry, then toss with spice mixture, olive oil, and lime juice.
  • Toss cabbage, carrots, cilantro, lime juice, olive oil, honey or maple syrup, salt, and pepper to make the slaw.
  • Blend avocado, yogurt, lime juice, garlic, cilantro, salt, pepper, and water until smooth.
  • Warm tortillas until soft and pliable.
  • Heat a skillet over medium-high heat.
  • Cook shrimp for 2–3 minutes per side, until opaque and lightly charred.
  • Fill tortillas with slaw and blackened shrimp.
  • Drizzle with avocado crema.
  • Finish with cilantro, lime wedges, radish, jalapeño, or cheese if desired.

Notes

For dairy-free tacos, use dairy-free yogurt in the avocado crema. Assemble tacos just before serving for the freshest texture.
